But even after deleting most apps, we still had to spend a lot of time on the basics: How to unlock the phone. How to place a phone call. How to find punctuation on the keyboard. I really wish iOS had an ā€œeasy modeā€ as an accessibility feature to pare the phone back to basics.

My first step was to delete as many apps as I could to leave her with just the basics: phone, texting, camera, maps, & weather. (The Weather app is the killer feature for her, btw. Weather forecasts at her fingertips!)

Iā€™ve had an interesting challenge the last few days. I gave my mom an old iPhone SE. This is her first smartphone, so Iā€™ve been trying to teach her how to use it. I forgot how unintuitive a lot of the iPhone gestures are to someone who doesnā€™t already know them!
